£665.00 was raised for ‘Oracle Cancer Trust’ at the 2018 LABC North and East Yorkshire Building Excellence Awards held on Wednesday 13 June at The Principal York Hotel.
Each year the LABC President selects a charity of their choice to support, this year, Chris Griffith-Jones chosen charity is Oracle Cancer Trust.
Oracle Cancer Trust is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to funding pioneering research into head and neck cancer. There are over 30 different types of head and neck cancer, the most common being oral cancer which accounts for over a third of cases. Head and neck cancer is the sixth most common cancer in the UK and cases are growing at an alarming rate with cases of oral cancer up by 90% since the 1970’s.
The LABC North and East Yorkshire Building Excellence Awards were happy to support this worthwhile charity for the night, with envelopes being placed on all the tables and asking our guests to give generously. Chris Griffith-Jones gave a very moving speech followed by a short informative film about the effects of head and neck cancer.
The grand total raised on the evening was £665.00. Chris Griffith-Jones said ‘on behalf of the entire team I would like to thank everyone involved in the Building Excellence Awards’. We were delighted to have been chosen as this year’s charity and to receive the wonderful donation of £665.00 as well as this great opportunity to create awareness of our work.
